Ole Dierks, MD

Originally from Germany, Dr. Dierks decided to continue his medical training in the United States after his remarkable experiences as a student here in the Bay Area.

In choosing the field of nephrology, being intrigued by its complexity and its overlap with other specialties, he enjoys the close collaboration and the great variety of clinical work.

Dr. Dierks practices with compassion, customizing care and treatment individually. He builds long term patient relationships based on trust. Emphasis on prevention is crucial, utilizing the newest treatment strategies to reduce the progression of kidney disease.

Being the chief of the section of nephrology at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, and the medical director of the Fresenius (Peralta) hemodialysis unit in Oakland, he offers the full spectrum of clinical nephrology. He also performs minimally invasive catheter procedures at the Dialysis Access Center in Oakland.

Dr. Dierks is a member of the advisory board for the Bay Area Association of Kidney Patients (www.baakp.org)

Living in Berkeley with his wife and 2 children, he enjoys swimming, skiing, tennis, and biking. Cheering his children’s soccer teams is his other passion.
